Does Chit require an internet connection? +
No. Chit is designed from the ground up as a 100% offline-first application. Optical character recognition (OCR), receipt storage, budget calculations, and database queries all execute locally on your phone hardware. You can use it in airplanes, remote areas, or completely offline.
Where are my receipt photos stored? +
Receipt photos are saved inside your device's private application sandbox. No external servers or cloud services ever receive your images. When you delete a receipt inside the app, the photo is permanently purged from your device.
Can I export my data for tax filing or spreadsheets? +
Yes! In Settings, tap "Export Reports (PDF / CSV)" and choose CSV to generate a standardized CSV file with merchant names, dates, amounts, categories, and item counts. You can open this file in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, or forward it directly to your accountant.
What languages and currencies are supported? +
Chit includes 100% complete translations for 7 languages (English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, and Portuguese) and supports all major currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, AED, INR, and more).
